Chinese Celebrity Cai Xukun denies allegations of coerced abortion
Chinese celebrity, Cai Xukun, is currently under fire following allegations of a scandalous affair that has sparked heated discussions on Chinese social media platform, Weibo. The heart of the controversy revolves around accusations that Cai Xukun was involved in an affair with an underage woman identified as Miss W, who was allegedly coerced into having an abortion.

These allegations were made public by Miss W, who claimed that she was only 17 at the time of their relationship, and accused Cai of giving her a beverage that may have contained an unidentified substance.
Responding to the allegations, Cai Xukun, on July 3, denied the charges of forced abortion and the claim that Miss W was underage at the time of their relationship. In a Weibo post, Cai acknowledged having been in a relationship with Miss W two years ago when he was single but assured that their private issues were amicably resolved in 2021 with no further disputes.
The controversy has sparked a range of reactions from the Weibo community. Some users expressed outrage over the allegations. User @芝心兔兔茶 generalized the sentiment, stating that celebrities who cannot control their sexual desires "deserve to die."
Others focused on Cai's defense against the allegations. User @八卦通讯社 questioned Cai's emphasis on denying any force was involved in the abortion. Some users such as @扒圈小记 and @黄石PK criticized Cai for failing to address other aspects of the controversy, such as potential deception of his fans and lack of clarification on other controversies related to his ex-girlfriend.
The controversy also brought up discussions around the Chinese concept of a "collapsed room" or "塌房," a metaphor used in Chinese internet slang to describe when a popular figure has fallen from grace due to scandal. User @我是奥叔 remarked on how the term "collapsed room" seems to have been redefined in this context.
Additionally, a few users compared Cai Xukun's situation with previous scandals involving other celebrities, like Hua Chenyu, Xue Zhiqian, and Chen Feiyu. For example, user @懂礼貌的李一一 suggested that Cai's situation was more severe than theirs.
However, not all reactions were against Cai. Some users, like @胜利主义章北海, showed support for the embattled star by making light of the situation with humor and plays on words related to chickens, a reference to Cai's basketball shooting meme where he was dubbed "the dunking chicken".
While the Weibo community's reaction is mixed, it's clear that the controversy has put a dent in Cai Xukun's reputation. As user @姚姚剧能聊 puts it, perhaps the ones who suffer the most in these scenarios are the fans who are left questioning their loyalty and faith in their idol.
The story continues to unfold, with the spotlight on how Cai Xukun will navigate through this crisis. A particular point of intrigue is the rumored existence of another lover, mentioned by user @新浪新闻, and whether this will further affect Cai's credibility.
Despite the ongoing controversy, it's clear that this is a significant moment in Chinese pop culture that explores issues of celebrity responsibility, fan culture, and the impact of social media in shaping public perception.
