China Launches 'May Day City In-Depth Exploration' Campaign to Boost Domestic Tourism
The Chinese government has initiated a travel campaign, known as the "五一城市深探索计划," to promote tourism and exploration of various cities in China during the Labor Day holiday, which falls on May 1st. This campaign aims to encourage people to visit and experience the unique culture, history, and attractions of different cities, such as Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Urumqi. Guangzhou, one of the featured cities, boasts a rich history, cultural landmarks, and modern attractions, including scenic spots like the Canton Tower, Yuexiu Park, and the Beijing Road pedestrian street, which are expected to be popular destinations for tourists.

Other cities, including Urumqi, are also highlighted in the campaign, showcasing their natural beauty, cultural heritage, and unique blend of Chinese and Islamic influences. Urumqi's scenic spots, such as the Heavenly Lake, Red Hill, and the Xinjiang Museum, are expected to attract visitors from across China. The campaign is part of the Chinese government's efforts to boost domestic tourism and promote economic growth in various regions. By highlighting the unique attractions and experiences of different cities, the campaign aims to encourage people to explore and appreciate the diversity and richness of Chinese culture and history.
As part of the campaign, various cities are introducing their tourist attractions, such as Yangmei Ancient Town in Nanning, which is a thousand-year-old town with historic buildings like Kuixing Tower, Shuangyuan Bridge, and Juren House. The Shayibake District in Urumqi hosted the "Racing on the Thousand-Year Silk Road, Dancing with the Future" characteristic parade, attracting many citizens and tourists. Other must-visit destinations include Yikang in Changsha, where tourists can experience massage and delicious food, the Tianyi Pavilion in Ningbo, which is the oldest private library in China, and the Bund in Shanghai, a popular destination with its modern shopping centers and traditional architectural style.

During the Labor Day holiday, various tourism activities are also taking place, such as the "Poetry Unlocks the Prosperous Tang Dynasty · Yanque Trail" immersive cultural experience at the Yanque Tower scenic area in Shanxi Province's Yongji City. Visitors can assume the role of "Tang Dynasty Poetry Envoys" and embark on a fascinating script-based tour, featuring NPC interactions, performances, and other diverse formats, vividly showcasing the historical culture and Tang Dynasty charm of Yanque Tower. The event will run until May 5th, with the scenic area offering more surprises, including the debut of specialty cultural and creative products and interactive checkpoints for photo opportunities.
