Mark Zuckerberg Unveils 2-Meter Statue of Wife Priscilla Chan, Sparking Both Admiration and Criticism
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has sparked heated debate on social media after unveiling a 2-meter-tall statue of his wife, Priscilla Chan, which he commissioned to "revive the ancient Roman tradition of creating statues in honor of one's wife."

The statue, created by American artist Daniel Arsham, features Priscilla Chan wearing a silver cloak with the back half shaped like a wing. While some netizens praised Zuckerberg's romantic gesture, others were not impressed. One user @uniquexun commented, "This is so typical of a billionaire's behavior." Another user @tiantian_aihuo called it "embarrassing," saying "statues are for commemorating the deceased."
The statue's unveiling on Instagram reignited a long-standing debate about Priscilla Chan's physical appearance. One user @caocao1890 noted that Priscilla Chan's "facial features are not as refined as one would expect for a woman married to someone as successful as Zuckerberg." Another user @guanggaopeng123 responded, "Well, beauty is not just about physical appearance. It's also about talent and character, which Priscilla Chan possesses."

However, not everyone was convinced. @huanxintu commented, "I don't see what's so great about this woman. If I didn't know who she was, I wouldn't even recognize her." Others, like @fenghuoqi, poked fun at the statue's design, saying "the winged cloak looks like something out of the movie Avatar."

Despite the controversy, many netizens praised Zuckerberg's romantic gesture. @xiangzhaoxiangzhang wrote, "I think it's sweet. As a fandom once said, 'A gentle wind can change the world, and a little love can move a mountain.'" @miling monthly echoed this sentiment, saying "It's not about how the statue looks, it's about the thought behind it. It's the thought that counts, and Zuckerberg's thought is to give his wife something beautiful."

Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have been married since 2012 and have two daughters together. The Facebook CEO is known for publicly expressing his affection for his wife, and this gesture is just another example of his romantic side. As @zhudesheng2020 put it, "It's not about being a billionaire or not. It's about loving someone and wanting to do something special for them. That's what it means to be romantic."
