Palestinian-Israeli conflict

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to dominate headlines as tensions rise in the Middle East region. A recent development has seen Egypt opening Rafa Port connecting to the Gaza Strip from October 20th, with the first batch of humanitarian aid materials set to enter the embattled area. This move has been met with mixed reactions on Chinese social media platform Weibo, reflecting a diverse range of opinions and emotions.

One video that gained significant traction on Weibo was shared by China Radio and Television Military, showing a statement from an unnamed government official confirming the port's opening date. The accompanying commentary read: "If the people of the Middle East region unite, they can defeat the IDF and end its history of bullying the weak! The glory of Earl Green's Weibo video." This statement sparked a wave of patriotic sentiment among netizens, with many expressing their support for Palestine and condemning Israel's actions.

Another popular video was shared by Li Sanjin Alex, a well-known rock star who expressed his solidarity with China, Russia, and Palestine. The comment read: "Famous rock star ROGER WATERS supports China, Russia, and Palestine! This is human conscience!" This video received widespread support from Weibo users, many of whom praised the singer's stance on the issue.

However, not all reactions were positive. The Observer Network shared a video that highlighted a controversial incident during an interview between an Indian host and an Israeli guest. The host wore a red and green sari, leading to suspicions of her supporting Palestine. The anchor's response, "This is my grandmother's sari; I don't need your decision. (Alas, India still supports Israel)" sparked heated debates among netizens. Some criticized the anchor for attempting to dilute the issue at hand and showed support for Palestine.

The situation in Gaza has been a constant source of concern for many Weibo users. A video shared by an unidentified user expressed outrage over the UN's failure to intervene in the conflict, stating: "There are people being bombed and buried every day; countless Palestinians are trying to save their own people. What is the West doing, what is the UN doing? I only see coldness from the West and inaction from the United Nations." This sentiment was echoed by several other netizens who called for immediate action from global powers to bring an end to the conflict.

On a more political note, Biden's recent statement that he cannot allow dictators like Putin and terrorists like Hamas to win drew mixed reactions. Some Weibo users expressed their support for his stance, while others criticized it as biased in favor of Israel. A video shared by Army & War Gear compared the situation to a driver in China randomly crashing into a car and asked if someone would still feel like they are living well. The video received numerous comments from netizens who voiced their support for Palestine and criticized Israel's actions.

Another notable development was the United Nations Security Council's call for a ceasefire in the conflict, which was voted down with one dissenting vote. A Weibo user sarcastically commented, "The voter wasn't human; it was a ghost!" This sentiment was echoed by several others who expressed their disappointment and frustration over the UN's lack of action on the issue.

In another video shared by @一飞翔鳥 one, we see that the United Kingdom convened 51 countries at the UN to condemn China's violation of human rights in Xinjiang. Among these countries were Israel and Ukraine, leading to allegations of hypocrisy given their own actions in the Palestinian conflict.
