According to reports, investigators have obtained a secret recording that allegedly shows Li Wei instructing his co-conspirators on how to respond to police questioning and even guiding them on how to conceal their involvement in the crime. The recording also suggests that Li Wei was present at the scene of the crime and may have been involved in the physical abuse that led to Cai's death. The incident occurred in April 2024, when a woman named Cai traveled to the Da'an district of Taipei to follow a spiritual leader named Wang. Two months later, she was found dead with severe bruises all over her body, and a large sum of money had been transferred out of her bank account.
The police investigation suggested that Cai had been beaten to death. Initially, Taiwanese actor Li Wei was summoned as a witness, but he was later listed as a suspect. As the investigation unfolded, it was discovered that Li Wei was not only a follower of Wang but had also played a significant role in the events leading up to Cai's death. A secretly recorded audio file revealed that Li Wei had been present during the violent incident and may have been involved in the fatal beating.
The police found that Wang and his followers, including Li Wei, had major suspicions against them. Li Wei had been present at the scene on the day of the incident and had previously been summoned by the police three times in January. Wang was later referred to the relevant authorities on suspicion of inflicting fatal injuries. According to media reports, after the incident, Wang had consulted with his followers, including Li Wei, on how to respond to the police investigation. Li Wei had allegedly provided advice to Wang and other followers on how to answer questions during police interrogations.
Li Wei and his wife have been listed as defendants, with a total of 13 people being implicated in the case. After the fourth round of questioning by the prosecution, Li Wei's wife was granted bail with a bond of 150,000 Taiwan dollars, while Li Wei was released on bail with a bond of 300,000 Taiwan dollars. The case continues to attract widespread attention, with many netizens expressing shock and disappointment over Li Wei's involvement. Currently, 7 of the defendants are being detained and prohibited from communicating with each other. As the investigation continues, Li Wei's involvement in the case has sent shockwaves through the Taiwanese entertainment industry and has raised questions about the actor's alleged involvement in a violent and deadly crime.
