According to reports from the Chiang Rai authorities, the plane was carrying five Chinese nationals, all of whom were killed in the crash. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
The news of the crash has sparked concern and shock among Chinese netizens on Weibo, China's popular social media platform. "I'm so shocked! Five Chinese people were on the plane. It's so sudden," wrote one user. "I wish the victims rest in peace. When traveling, you never know what will happen."

Another user, who claimed to have taken the same flight last year, expressed her sympathy for the victims. "I took this flight to Soneva Kiri, a luxury resort in Koh Kood, last year... I'm so sad to hear this news."
The crash has also raised concerns about the safety of small planes. "Small planes have had so many accidents. Is it worth risking our lives for a vacation?" asked one user.
A Weibo user, who identified herself as a travel agent, wrote, "As a tour guide, I have to consider the safety of my clients. I think it's time for us to reconsider using small planes for transportation."
The Chinese Embassy in Thailand has issued a statement expressing its condolences to the families of the victims and promising to cooperate with the Thai authorities in the investigation.
This crash has also brought attention to the luxury resort, Soneva Kiri, which is known for its private plane service that transports guests from Bangkok. One Weibo user wrote, "Soneva Kiri uses a private plane to pick up guests from Bangkok... it's a VIP service, but is it safe?"
While some users expressed their condolences and concerns, others were quick to speculate about the cause of the crash. "It's probably due to pilot error or mechanical failure," wrote one user.
A few users also brought up the recent crash of a Lion Air plane in Indonesia, which killed all 189 people on board. "It's like the Lion Air crash. We should always prioritize safety when traveling," wrote one user.

In response to the concerns, a spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) stated that the plane was registered in Thailand and had passed all safety inspections before taking off.
As the investigation continues, the Chinese government has dispatched a team to Thailand to assist with the recovery of the bodies and the investigation. The Thai authorities are working closely with the Chinese Embassy to provide support to the families of the victims.
The crash has sent shockwaves through the tourism industry, which is a significant contributor to Thailand's economy. Thailand's tourism minister, Weerasak Kowsurat, has stated that the government will do everything possible to support the families of the victims and ensure the safety of tourists in Thailand.
In the meantime, Weibo users continue to share their condolences and concerns, using hashtags #泰国小型飞机坠毁有5名中国籍乘客# (Thai small plane crash with 5 Chinese passengers) and #泰国小型飞机坠毁# (Thai small plane crash).
