Qingdao University Under Fire After Dormitory Guard's Death and Student's Hospitalization Due to Heatstroke
A recent incident at Qingdao University in China has raised concerns about the living conditions of students and staff on campus. On July 6, a 58-year-old male dormitory guard was found unconscious in his duty room and later pronounced dead after failed rescue efforts. The guard, who was responsible for the Yingyuan dormitory area, lived in a small, 6-square-meter house without air conditioning, which had poor ventilation and reached temperatures of up to 51°C on the day of the incident. This tragic event has sparked widespread concern and outrage among students, parents, and the general public, highlighting the university's alleged negligence and inadequate measures to address the extreme heatwave affecting the region.
