Chengdu Issues Red Alert as Heavy Rainstorm Batters the City
On July 3, at 17:10, the Chengdu Meteorological Bureau upgraded the rainstorm warning from orange to red, indicating a significant increase in the severity of the weather conditions. The affected areas include Jinjiang, Qingyang, Jinniu, Wuhou, Chenghua, Gaoxin West, and Gaoxin South districts, where the 3-hour rainfall is expected to exceed 100mm or the rainfall intensity will reach 70mm/hour.

Authorities have advised schools and kindergartens in high-risk areas to suspend classes, and units can choose to suspend work, production, or business. Outdoor and underground operations have been halted, and personnel in mountainous areas and those living in dangerous buildings have been relocated.
The severe weather warning system has been activated in response to the heavy rainfall in Chengdu, with the city's meteorological bureau issuing a red alert for heavy rain. According to the warning, the central urban area is experiencing widespread heavy rain to extremely heavy rain, with some areas expected to receive over 100mm of rainfall within a three-hour period or experience rainfall intensity exceeding 70mm per hour. The affected areas include several districts in Chengdu, namely Jinjiang, Qingyang, Jinniu, Wuhou, Chenghua, High-Tech West, and High-Tech South.
