Liu Haoran Becomes First Post‑1995 Actor to Win Changchun Film Festival’s Top Acting Prize, Signaling a Youth‑Driven Shift in Chinese Cinema

Liu Haoran, a 29‑year‑old actor who has become a household name in China’s box‑office‑driven film market, topped the list of winners at the 20th China Changchun Film Festival on August 28, 2025. The young star received the Golden Deer Award for Best Actor – the festival’s most coveted honor – for his performance in the espionage thriller “Decryption” (《解密》). In a ceremony held in the northeastern city of Changchun, Liu’s win marked a notable shift in the industry: he is the first post‑1995 performer to claim the Golden Deer’s top acting prize.

On August 25, 2025, a video that quickly went viral on China’s leading social network Weibo captured a scene that sparked a firestorm of online debate: a woman behind the wheel of a Porsche slotted her car across two parking spaces and then, when a neighboring driver parked correctly, confronted the man and demanded an apology for what she called a “long‑time delay.” The exchange, recorded by by‑standers and reposted by accounts such as Beijing Time and Nanshe Shenlan, offered a vivid snapshot of the friction that can erupt when privilege, public etiquette and urban scarcity collide.

A short‑lived drama between two Chinese internet personalities has sparked a wave of discussion across the country’s social media platforms, illuminating deeper concerns about the credibility of livestream commerce and the responsibility of online “vigilantes” who police it.
