Sui Wenjing Lights the Way as Final Torchbearer at Harbin Asian Winter Games

The Harbin Asian Winter Games torch relay event came to a successful end in the host city of Harbin, with 120 torchbearers participating in the relay to express their enthusiastic anticipation for the 9th Asian Winter Games. Former figure skater Shen Xue, as the first torchbearer, started the journey from the Zhuha Baroque Street area in Harbin's Daowai District, marking the beginning of the torch relay event. After nearly three hours of relay, the last torchbearer, Beijing Winter Olympics figure skating champion Sui Wenjing, held the closing ceremony at the popular Snowman Square in the Sun Island Wetland Park, located along the banks of the Songhua River, and passed the torch to the organizers, signifying the successful conclusion of the torch relay event. During the relay, Sui Wenjing showcased her impressive figure skating moves, eliciting cheers and applause from the crowd.

Short-track speed skater Fan Kexin also participated in the relay and expressed her pride in competing in her hometown during the Asian Winter Games, promising to prepare for the competitions with even greater enthusiasm. Many other excellent athletes participated in the torch relay, including short-track speed skating Olympic champions Wang Meng and Wu Dajing, as well as Sheng Li Hao and Wang Shun. The torch relay route covered a distance of 11 kilometers, passing through several iconic landmarks in Harbin, such as the century-old Binzhou Railway Bridge, Zhonglin Park renowned for its ice and snow art, Central Street, and the Flood Control Memorial Tower Square. This route not only showcased the natural beauty of Harbin but also its rich cultural heritage, making the torch relay a celebration of both the city's past and its vibrant present.

Sui Wenjing, as the last torchbearer, is not only a celebrated figure skater but also a member of the opening and closing ceremony directing team.
