According to the report, Shenzhou 18, the current crew onboard the space station, has been performing emergency standby duties at the launch site. The spacecraft's multiple systems will also undergo upgrades. China Aerospace plans to complete 100 launch missions this year, according to a CCTV report released on February 27. According to the World Economic Forum, China has been working on catching up in space technology since the 2010s, and has launched over 300 spacecraft. In September 2021, the Chinese space station completed its main structure assembly, marking its entry into the stage of collective construction and operation of large-scale manned spacecraft. The Chinese space station program, officially known as Tiangong, began in 1992. Following the success of various modules, including the Shenzhou spacecraft, Tiangong-1, and Tiangong-2, the space station's construction commenced in April 2021. The station is expected to remain operational for at least 10 years and will be capable of hosting up to six astronauts at a time.
