Explosions Rock Roosevelt Island in New York City: No Injuries Reported, Cause Under Investigation
New York City was shocked by a series of explosions that occurred on the morning of January 2nd. According to NBC News, the blasts took place in Roosevelt Island, and local fire officials confirmed that the situation was under control and that no injuries had been reported.

Manhattan and Queens residents contacted emergency services to report hearing sounds coming from the south end of Roosevelt Island Bridge just before 6 am. The New York Fire Department also confirmed that several minor explosions were detected on Roosevelt Island, leading to a power outage in the area.
The department is now investigating the cause of the explosions.
