Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety, including staying indoors, avoiding travel, and keeping away from areas that may be prone to flooding or landslides. To stay safe during the storm, residents can follow guidelines such as staying informed about local weather forecasts and warnings, seeking shelter in nearby buildings or hard-topped vehicles, protecting their property by securing outdoor furniture and decorations, avoiding travel unless absolutely necessary, and checking on vulnerable neighbors who may need assistance.

The storm has already caused widespread damage, with reports of houses, agricultural facilities, and trees being damaged in affected areas. The Yueyang City Water and Drought Disaster Prevention and Control Center has reported that local authorities are working to rescue and recover from the disaster, with efforts underway to clear flooded areas, remove fallen trees, and relocate residents threatened by the storm.

Meteorological experts have warned that Hunan has entered a period of concentrated heavy rainfall, and relevant departments should be vigilant about the potential for small and medium-sized river flooding, mountain floods, and urban and rural waterlogging. The public is advised to minimize outdoor activities to prevent harm from the strong convection weather, which can impact personal safety, transportation, outdoor work, and agricultural production.

In response to the storm, residents are taking to social media to share photos and videos of the hailstorm, with many expressing shock and concern. The Hunan Provincial Meteorological Bureau has issued an orange warning signal, alerting citizens to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. As the city of Yueyang struggles to recover from the storm, residents are bracing themselves for the possibility of more severe weather events in the future.

To minimize the risks associated with this extreme weather, citizens are advised to reduce outdoor activities until the storm passes and steer clear of loosely constructed structures such as scaffolding and billboard advertisements, which can become hazardous in strong winds and hail. Homeowners are also recommended to take preventive measures to protect their properties, including driving livestock and poultry into covered areas and securing doors and windows.

Municipal authorities and local residents should inspect the drainage systems in urban areas, farmlands, and fishponds to ensure they are functioning properly, and be prepared for the onset of mountain floods, landslides, and mudflows. By taking these precautionary steps, the community can mitigate the impact of the extreme weather, safeguard lives, and reduce property damage. It is a collective responsibility to be vigilant and prepared in the face of such weather events, ensuring the well-being and safety of all residents in Yueyang.
